Recent Carlyle Rosewood Review: "The Carlyle is the favorite for my wife and me when we stay in Manhattan. The staff is extremely friendly and professional and the Upper East Side Location is unequaled for access to some of the finest Manhattan has to offer, i.e. restaurants, museums, shopping, Central Park, etc. The hotels restaurant, bar and the Cafe Carlyle should also be experienced at least once. We consider it our home away from home.
That being said, like anyone's home, the Carlyle is not for everyone. It is older and although every effort has been made to modernize it is still a modernization of an older edifice and therefore can be a little quirky. If you love the place and the staff as we do, then you find the quirks endearing...if not then they may be annoying, and no one wants to pay the Carlyle's tariff to be annoyed."

| Overview |
|
If America had royalty, they would hold court at The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel. After all, this Art Deco landmark occupies a swath of New York's Upper East Side, just a block from Central Park. Step out from the front doors, and you can power shop at the upscale boutiques that line Madison Avenue. Admire the collections (and the buying power) of modern-day Medicis as you peruse the art at nearby museums; the Whitney Museum and the Frick Collection are both within a 10-minute walk south, while The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim, and Neue Galerie are all within 15 minutes north, along Museum Mile. Personal service and attention to detail have been hallmarks of The Carlyle since 1930. You can expect concierge assistance, twice-daily maid service, and white-gloved elevator operators. It's no wonder that The Carlyle has attracted celebrities and heads of state, including Mick Jagger, Charles, the Prince of Wales, and John F. Kennedy (who reportedly held trysts with Marilyn Monroe at The Carlyle). You’ll feel like a part of the A-list as you dine in the English manor-style restaurant or legendary supper club. Indulge in Sense Spa’s holistic treatments, or get a makeover at the Yves Durif salon. Register for the hotel’s Rose Buds program, and pamper your children with Baby Primrose skincare products, tea, and other services for the little ones. Exuding the rarefied air of an Upper East Side pied-à-terre, The Carlyle's rooms and suites look out into the Manhattan skyline, Madison Avenue, or 76th Street. Accordingly, Hotel Rooms showcase original artwork and antiques, hardwood floors, and wool area rugs. The decor deftly weaves Louis XVI flair with modern accouterments: iPod docking station, wireless Internet access (surcharge), and TV with DVD player and digital cable are standard amenities. You can also luxuriate in terrycloth bathrobes, slippers, and another New York original: Kiehl’s toiletries.

| A short guide to Central Park |
|
Buildings crane above one another to claim views of Central Park, a piece of real estate valued at more than $528 billion. Surprises abound in its 843 acres. The grounds include a castle, a zoo, several lakes, and an Egyptian obelisk. A city that never sleeps needs its quiet time, too: Central Park has six designated “quiet zones,” including Strawberry Fields, the monument to John Lennon.
