Recent City Club Hotel Review: "This hotel is VERY nice and I would recommend it to anybody planning a trip to NYC. I stayed in the King Luxe room on the front side of the hotel. The bed and the bedding are plush and comfortable. The lighting in the room and the bathroom can be dimmed or brightened based on what type of lighting you like. The location is perfect--only two blocks from Times Square but on a street where you don't hear much noise at night. The bathroom is beautiful with chocolate marble on the floors and walls, wall mirrors, and a shower head that feels divine. The showerhead can be adjusted for whatever water pressure you want. The shower curtain is clear and you can look over at yourself in the mirror when showering. There are speakers in the bathroom so you can hear the television while in there. The decor is beautiful and up to date. The T.V. is hidden behind a beautiful abstract painting on the wall. Everything blends together to create a spa-like and/or zen experience. There is a daybed in the room that is also comfortable. The size of the room is perfect. I thought it would be small but it is the perfect size room. The hotel smells like an aromatherapy shop-(Very nice). The staff is always very friendly. They bought us fresh baked cookies to our room. Overall it was an awesome experience."

Overview
Formerly a turn-of-the-century sanctuary for Manhattan power brokers, the 4-star City Club Hotel marries vintage charm with sleek sophistication. Tucked discreetly into a 1904 brick building, this historic Midtown hotel is ideally situated less than a 5-minute walk from both Fifth Avenue shopping and Times Square. You're also just steps from the prime people-watching and idyllic alfresco dining opportunities of Bryant Park, 2 blocks south. Adjacent to Bryant Park is the New York Public Library, where you can get blissfully lost in the stacks, or watch the crowd from its steps, flanked by iconic guardian lion statues. The glitz of Rockefeller Center is less than a half-mile away, as are the high kicks of Radio City Music Hall.

Originally a private club, the hotel maintains its exclusive cache thanks to highly acclaimed, personalized service--and the jaw-dropping interior design of Jeffrey Bilhuber, whose previous celeb clients include David Bowie and Michael Douglas. Indulge in innovative French-American fare at DB Bistro Moderne, the brainchild of star chef Daniel Boulud. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served. There's no need to miss a workout while on holiday - the hotel can arrange complimentary passes to the nearby New York Sports Club. Afterward, unwind with a massage service back at City Club (parents can leave little ones in the charge of in-house childcare). When you're ready to head out on the town, treat yourself to star-worthy transportation for your excursions: staff can arrange town car service.

Retreat to your Hotel Rooms, where you’ll sleep soundly in the lush comfort of a bed with Frette linens, feather down bedding, and oversized pillows. Televisions with premium channels, including HBO, are masked by two-way mirrors that lose their reflective opacity upon the click of a remote. A library of DVDs and CDs is at your disposal, and Wi-Fi is complimentary throughout the hotel. Each room also offers an iHome stereo system. Chocolate marble bathrooms include Frette robes, phones, and oversized towels. Room service is available 24 hours a day.

Location

The City Club is a sleek luxury hotel in Midtown Manhattan, tucked neatly between the Times Square theater district and Fifth Avenue shopping. Emerging from the building's storied limestone facade, which once housed an exclusive social club, guests may venture via Town Car or foot to Manhattan's prestigious restaurants and venues.

Though discrete and personable in every regard, the City Club is not a boutique. Hotel owner and self-described "eternal host" Jeff Klein avoids the tired cliché surrounding the b-word. If there was ever a distinction to be made between the fleeting panache of boutique hotels and the timeless echelon of sophistication, the City Club makes it apparent.

Indeed, the City Club defies the boutique stereotype with aspirations of immortality. Notable designer Jeffrey Bilhuber, whose clients include David Bowie and Michael Douglas, orchestrated the hotel's interior. The City Club's elegantly styled lobby was designed not to impress, but to entice on a diminutive scale. The typically intimidating and cold expanse of marble and stone found all too often in New York has been supplanted for an intimate tchotchkie-laden sitting area with inviting sofas on a designer cork floor. World renowned chef Daniel Boulud's newest restaurant, DB Bistro Moderne, reinvents the traditional European bistro as a contemporary culinary jewel box. The DB offers room service and dining for all meals.

The nine-story City Club offers 65 Hotel Rooms, each featuring exquisite designs. The City Club maintains an all-original art collection throughout the property. Premium bedding with 320-thread-count linens permits sleep in a city alleged to have none. Entertainment centers boast CD and DVD playback. Televisions with premium channels are masked by two-way mirrors, which lose their reflective opacity upon the click of a remote. The bathrooms, complete with cascading showers, are decked in rich chocolate-marble. Hotel Rooms offer complimentary high-speed Internet access. The City Club appeals to sophisticated professionals and touring visitors who value style on-par with luxury.

A short guide to Midtown

Other highlights include Madison Square Garden, the United Nations, and the Garment and Diamond districts.
