Recent Doubletree Metropolitan City Review: "My wife, eight-year-old daughter and I spent four days and three nights at the Doubletree Metropolitan Hotel in the ending of March. When we were making the plans to visit NYC, it was important for us, especially as parents, to find a hotel that was clean, close to major sights, and that was highly recommended by past guests. Sometimes the hotel room pictures featured in some of the travel sights are sometimes not exactly what you find when you get there. But I have to admit; the hotel was very nice and near to places like Times Square, St. Patrick's Cathedral, 5th Ave., and Rockefeller Center. Once we got familiar with the city and decided to take the subway, there were a few entrances near the hotel. The staff was always, nice, polite and eager to help us with whatever we needed. One of the nice things that Doubletree does for its guests is offer chocolate-chip cookies once they arrive to check in. As much as I think it's a nice gesture, I think I would much prefer to have those delicious treats greet me at my room. Regardless, it's a very nice touch that will stay on the guests' mind long after their stay (See, I'm still thinking about it.). The room was always kept clean and large enough to fit a sitting area (we chose the room with a king-size bed). The concierge gave us great tips on what to do in the city, and suggested different options on how to get back to the airport on our last day. If your flight back home is much later than your checkout, the hotel can hold your luggage in a locked storage for a small price. Since we were traveling with a child, we never took advantage of the hotel's bar, but it always seemed to be the best happy hour in NYC, because it was always packed. The lobby would also fill up with people and their laptops, which I assumed the hotel provided WiFi. For late night cravings, there's always the expensive, but convenient room service, or there were also great restaurants and take-out places nearby that opened late. Overall, we had a"

| So close to everything we wanted to see. Clean room. It was smaller than what it looked like in the pictures, but it was still comfortable. There's a train right outside the door. Definitely recommend it and definitely stay there on our next trip. |

| After a hassle of traveling back from europe - this was a perfect refresher. The bed was excellent, TV was nice and the room service (although pricey... 60 dollars after tip for a burger, fries, two ice teas and a ceaser salad) was fantastic. If we were going to NY to stay a few days, as long as the price was right (don't stay over a weekend...they nearly double, if you can help it anyway) I'd pick this place again without a problem. |

| I selected this hotel because they have some rooms that allow smoking. This was the dominant factor in my decision to select this hotel. As it should be, smoking is not permitted in the lobby, halls, shops, bar, etc. but they have some dedicated smoking rooms. I suspect the smoking permitted rooms are confined to a particular floor.
The location is very good. There's a Lexington Ave. Subway stop right outside the door. Grand Central Terminal is only a few blocks away.
The staff was friendly and professional. Security is evident but unobtrusive. There's a police station and a fire department across the street. I consider that a positive factor. Although the fire department is busy, the hotel is solidly constructed and the sirens are not a problem inside.
The rooms, halls and lobby are clean. My room had a very large flat panel TV and an excellent view from the window. The A.C. worked fine and the bed was comfortable.
If you are looking for a hotel that allows you to smoke in YOUR room, this is it. If you don't smoke this hotel is still a great place to stay. |

| A great location, very nice staff. The hotel is nicely furnished and quite clean, particularly considering how busy it is. Great lobby area. Small but very nice room. Our only complaint was the mold in the bathroom. Otherwise a great stay. |

| First of all, to save some money, my girlfriend and I decided to stay at this branch which was a couple of metro stops away from our Megabus drop-off/pick-up point. So a plus right there.
When we checked-in, the gentleman at the front desk informed us that we had been upgraded to an "Executive suite". We didn't complain but we were still curious as to why. He explained that they were trying to use up some rooms. He quickly explained and apologized for the condition of the hallway on our floor: they were remodeling. To compensate for this, we were given vouchers for free breakfast buffets both days we were there. Once the check-in process was complete, we were also presented with two fresh-out-of-the-oven chocolate chip oatmeal cookies (which my girlfriend loved).
Our floor, or hallway rather, was horrible. I know they loose money by not using the rooms on that floor, but it's really not worth it having to walk through a hallway in such a condition.
Our room on the other hand was pretty awesome; very comfortable, spacious, and relaxing, especially after a long bus trip. The only problem we had was that there weren't enough outlets in the room and for an "Executive Suite" there wasn't even a minibar fridge.
The breakfast buffet was delicious and very well appreciated. The waiters/waitresses were very polite and pleasant. The only donwside was that there wasn't a large variety, but there were still options. The fired eggs were like college fried eggs; not that great.
The associates were very helpful in giving directions, helping us find a nearby opened chinese restaurant around 10pm, or even suggesting sites to visit.
The location was great, we only had to walk about a block and a half to the hotel from or metro exit. There are several small restaurants on the same block of the hotel and all around it. Conveniently, there was a CVA store just down the street from the hotel.
Overall, we had a great time in NYC and at the Doubletree. |

| This was a nice hotel, clean and comfortable and well located. Problem was with paper-thin walls. We could hear everything in the next room and in the hallway. Not good late at night when trying to sleep. Also, every day for 3 days the maid did not clean the coffee pot or replace the coffee pack or dirty glasses. We had to call the desk every time. |
