Recent Doubletree Metropolitan City Review: "My wife, eight-year-old daughter and I spent four days and three nights at the Doubletree Metropolitan Hotel in the ending of March. When we were making the plans to visit NYC, it was important for us, especially as parents, to find a hotel that was clean, close to major sights, and that was highly recommended by past guests. Sometimes the hotel room pictures featured in some of the travel sights are sometimes not exactly what you find when you get there. But I have to admit; the hotel was very nice and near to places like Times Square, St. Patrick's Cathedral, 5th Ave., and Rockefeller Center. Once we got familiar with the city and decided to take the subway, there were a few entrances near the hotel. The staff was always, nice, polite and eager to help us with whatever we needed. One of the nice things that Doubletree does for its guests is offer chocolate-chip cookies once they arrive to check in. As much as I think it's a nice gesture, I think I would much prefer to have those delicious treats greet me at my room. Regardless, it's a very nice touch that will stay on the guests' mind long after their stay (See, I'm still thinking about it.). The room was always kept clean and large enough to fit a sitting area (we chose the room with a king-size bed). The concierge gave us great tips on what to do in the city, and suggested different options on how to get back to the airport on our last day. If your flight back home is much later than your checkout, the hotel can hold your luggage in a locked storage for a small price. Since we were traveling with a child, we never took advantage of the hotel's bar, but it always seemed to be the best happy hour in NYC, because it was always packed. The lobby would also fill up with people and their laptops, which I assumed the hotel provided WiFi. For late night cravings, there's always the expensive, but convenient room service, or there were also great restaurants and take-out places nearby that opened late. Overall, we had a"

Overview
The Doubletree by Hilton Metropolitan - New York City, shaped like a perpendicular rolling wave, is in the East Side of Manhattan’s Midtown. The iconic hotel is 1 block from Park Avenue, and 3 blocks from Fifth Avenue's world-class shopping. Many of New York’s most sought-after destinations are within a quick walk, including Rockefeller Center and the Museum of Modern Art, both within one-half mile. Walk 2 blocks south to Caswell-Massey, the country’s oldest drug store, which dates from 1752. Just outside of the hotel is the 51st St-Lexington subway stop, where you can take the 4 and 6 lines all around the Big Apple.

You can't throw a stone in New York City without hitting a building that's been in a film, but the Doubletree by Hilton Metropolitan has a unique place in movie history: It was the backdrop for the famous scene in The Seven Year Itch, when Marilyn Monroe stood over a street vent as her iconic white dress blew up around her shoulders.

The hotel was designed by famed postmodern architect Morris Lapidus and retains many 1960s details, including the decor in its cocktail lounge. At the restaurant, you can go buffet or a la carte for breakfast. Prefer to order in? Room service is available early morning to late night.

A warm welcome at Check-In includes complimentary, freshly baked chocolate-chip cookies. Want to burn off some calories? In the 24-hour fitness center, you can get your heart pounding while watching your own TV, provided on all cardio machines.

Hotel Rooms feature the Doubletree Sweet Dreams bed, which comes with a down duvet and an abundance of pillows. Settle in and watch your favorite HBO series on the 37-inch flat-panel TV. Or fire up your laptop and plan the next day's adventures; wireless Internet access is available for a surcharge. You can even print remotely to the Doubletree's business center. The clock radio includes an MP3 dock, so you can awake to your favorite tunes.
