Recent Empire Hotel Review: "My room (a junior suite) was quite a bit larger than what I've come to expect from standard NYC rooms. Its not so much as 'suite' as it is a 'bigger room with seating area', but I found it to be just enough, if not more, room than I needed. I even had a few friends over for drinks during my stay and it housed 6 of us comfortably. The temperature reached -6 degrees during my stay, but the hotel is only 3 blocks away from the metro and pretty centrally located to Central Park, Columbus Circle and other cool places of note as well. The ONLY gripe I had about my stay was that the heaters in my room made a "clunky" noise every few minutes when I first turned them on...but once you start to appreciate the fact that one press of a button turns frigid air into warm air, the noises didn't bother me as much. All in all, the hotel was clean and friendly, the staff was available and helpful and I would suggest this hotel to friends. I actually already have."

| A short guide to Central Park |
|
Buildings crane above one another to claim views of Central Park, a piece of real estate valued at more than $528 billion. Surprises abound in its 843 acres. The grounds include a castle, a zoo, several lakes, and an Egyptian obelisk. A city that never sleeps needs its quiet time, too: Central Park has six designated “quiet zones,” including Strawberry Fields, the monument to John Lennon.
