Recent Excelsior Hotel Review: "Mit drei Erwachsenen konnten wir uns in einem Zimmer mit zwei King-Size-Betten fA¼r eine Woche gut arrangieren, wenn auch die Betten mit nur 160 cm Breite fA¼r zwei Erwachsene etwas schmal waren. DafA¼r bot eine Ecke mit zwei Sesseln neben Sitzgelegenheit auch eine gute AblagemA¶glichkeit fA¼r Kleidung. Die Einrichtung des Zimmers war gemA¼tlich und mA¤ngelfrei.  Das Zimmer mit einem kleinen Duschbad war in sehr gutem technischen und optischen Zustand, absolut sauber und gepflegt. Im 12. Stock zur 81. StraAŸe hin gelegen (SA¼dseite)hatten wir einen wunderschA¶nen Blick auf den gegenA¼berliegenden kleinen Park, das American Museum of Natural History und auf Manhattan. Selbst bei geA¶ffnetem Fenster hielt sich der nA¤chtliche StraAŸenlA¤rm in Grenzen. Im Hotel war es nachts absolut ruhig, obwohl das Haus im September voll ausgebucht wirkte. Etwas gewA¶hnungsbedA¼rftig ist die "zu gut funktionierende" Klimaanlage, die entweder gar nicht oder nur "volle Pulle" kann, und das in Intervallen mit entsprechenden LA¼ftergerA¤uschen, die empfindliche Menschen sowohl vom einsetzenden GerA¤usch als auch vom Luftstrom stA¶ren kann. Der Versuch, bei Tagestemeparaturen von A¼ber 30 Grad nachts ohne Klimaanlage zu schlafen, gelang nur dann, wenn vor dem Zubettgehen (z.B. wA¤hrend der Zeit des Restaurantbesuchs) die Klimaanlage auf volle StA¤rke gestellt wurde, um sie dann abzuschalten. Wir haben sie nachts mit HandtA¼chern abgedeckt, um den kalten Luftstrom zu bremsen. Ansonsten, um eine ErkA¤ltung zu vermeiden, einen dA¼nnen Schal tragen! Den sollte man im Aœbrigen in New York stets mit sich fA¼hren, weil die Kliamanlagen in der U-Bahnn und in Restaurants auf KA¼hlschrankniveau heruntergefahren sind - der einzige Umstand, der uns in dem einwA¶chigen Urlaub in New York nervte. Wir waren im Aœbrigen sehr froh, nicht ein Zimmer auf der Nordseite bewohnen zu mA¼ssen - ein trostloser Ausblick in einen tristen Hinterhof. Also unbedingt Wert auf Zimmer zur SA¼dseite hin legen! Das Hotel liegt in sehr angenehmer Umgebung mi"
