| This hotel is located in a great location! There are stores, restaurants, shops all within walking distance. We were able to walk to the meat-packing district in about 10 minutes. The hotel itself is clean and modern. As for the room, while I was prepared for a small room based on the reviews, I was SHOCKED at just how small the room actually was. My college dorm room was bigger. While we were suppose to have a queen bed, I'm certain it was a full size, which made sleeping for two adults not so comfortable. Let me emphasize this room is SMALL and I would not recommend for more than one person. I'm a female w/sz 10 feet and I measured the room with my feet and took 12 steps from the door of the hotel to the window. I'm not exaggerating. And mind you, there was a very narrow (2 steps wide) opening in which I was able to walk those 12 steps. I wish the other reviews had mentioned this. Again, fine for 1 person, def. not 2. People were friendly. |

| You can reach this hotel for $7.25 from JFK Airport via the AirTrain and the MTA's E Train. Takes about an hour, but drops you off one short block from the hotel.
Rooms are small but quite comfortable. Best to think of it as a bedroom with a bath. No rooms with two beds.
If the weather is good, be sure to check out the rooftop patio. Quite spacious with a million dollar view of the Empire State Building. |

| Hotel was amazing, great location, nice people, nice room. Very clean, amazing bathroom. Definitely going to book again! |

| I booked this room because the woman on the phone assured me that I would be able to check-in at 8am when I got in from my red-eye. I desperately needed to a room to get showered and ready because I had meetings all day. Low and behold, when I arrived I was told there were no rooms available and then had to wait 1.5hrs before getting checked-in even though there had been a steady flow of check-outs from the moment I had arrived. There is no way it takes 1.5 hrs to clean a room.... |

| This was my third stay at the GEM and as usual I enjoyed it. My only complaint this time was a musty smell coming from the bathroom, just a ventilation problem I think. They just opened a new cafe/food market in the same building which is great for hotel customers. |

| These small rooms have everything for an overnight- any longer and you'd miss things like a chair... But super clean and stylish without pretentions. Concierge was a real sweetie and KNEW practical things . |

| The hotel was in a perfect loaction for us as everywhere we needed to be was within a 15-20 minute walking distance.
The staff were very helpful, pleasant, and friendly, especially when I require hypoallergetic bedding. They were more than happy to accommodate.
The room was small with just enough walking space around the bed. Perfect for us as we were hardly in the room and were only staying one night. But I wouldn't reccomend it to couples/familes staying more than 2 nights. My only complaint would be that the bed was not very comfortable, a little too soft for my liking but then again everyone is different.
The bathroom/shower was brilliant! Massive mirror, great sized shower. Nothing better than waking up to a hot, powerful shower. Very, very clean!
We also took advantage of their "luggage storage" ammenity on the day we checked out. Nothing worse than having to drag your cases along the streets of Manhattan.
Overall we had a fab time at The GEM Hotel. We would definitely stay there again! |

| kleine, aber sehr saubere un gemütliche Zimmer, freundlicher Service. Sehr ruhig, obwohl direkt an der 8th Ave gelegen. Werde auf jeden Fall dort wieder übernachten auf meiner nächsten Reise nach New York. |
