Recent Grand Hyatt Review: "This was my 7th trip to New York (and 7th different hotel I have stayed in), and it was defnitely my favourite so far.
The main selling point to me was that it has smoking rooms...not many hotels in NY have them (that are central) so I thought that because of this, we would be sacrificing other luxuries, eg small room with the view being a big wall or something. This was certainly not the case...... we were on a smoking floor (not sure if its the only smoking floor) and I could not get over the size of the room.....it was huge.....plenty of room to store all the shopping! It had been recently rennovated (we thought we would be given one of the older rooms, because of the whole smoking thing), brand new carpet, the most comfortable bed ever, a couch, a fridge, and modern bathroom. We also had a great view, had windows that opened, air con, and a machine that got rid of the smoke (we just turned it off going to bed as it was a bit noisy), so you wouldnt even know that people had smoked in it.
The lobby was under renovation but it did not take away from the overall atmosphere of the hotel. It looked like it was nearly finished anyway (end of Oct).
In relation to location, it couldnt be in a better spot. Its practically next door to Grand Central Station, and within walking distance to most attractions...times square, empire state, macys, central park, etc. We walked practically everywhere, although if you are feeling tired, its handy having the subway there, which includes a shuttle subway directly to times square and back (no stops in between) which runs until 5am daily.
I would defnitely stay here in future (it would be my first preference) and would recommend to anyone I know that is heading to the Big Apple!"

| Overview |
|
Grand Hyatt New York is adjacent to Grand Central Terminal, providing transportation throughout the city (and beyond) by train, subway, and bus. But you don't need a destination to enjoy this historic hub: download an audio tour (surcharge) to your iPod, or shop in Grand Central's 50 boutiques. Prefer retail on a larger scale? The flagship Saks Fifth Avenue department store is a half-mile from the hotel. Outside the Grand Hyatt, look up and admire the Chrysler Building (the iconic Art Deco skyscraper looms 77 stories just a half-block away). Inside the hotel, climb a grand staircase or take a glass elevator from the lobby to the expansive New York Central, a fine-dining venue featuring a European-inspired menu and sleek, ultra-modern decor. Sip a cocktail at the illuminated bar, or watch the bustling foot traffic on 42nd Street below. In the mood for something more casual? The 24-hour Market offers gourmet grab-and-go meals, with beverages and treats from such local bakeries as Macaron Café and Tisserie. Room service is also available during limited hours. Grand Hyatt is known for business-friendly amenities, from a 24-hour business center (surcharge) to 55,000 square feet of meeting and event space. A dedicated meeting concierge will point you in the right direction. Later, shed the stress of the day (and that box of macarons from the Market) with a sweat session in the complimentary fitness center, accessible 24 hours with your room key. After a busy day in the city, retreat to a spacious Hotel Rooms or suite featuring Hyatt's signature Grand Bed with a pillowtop mattress, down duvet, and plush pillows. Watch a movie on the flat-screen TV, or dock your iPod in the iHome clock radio and relax to your favorite songs. Need to check email or finish up some work? Wireless Internet access is available throughout the hotel for a surcharge.
