Recent Helmsley Carlton House Review: "In the middle of NY's shopping and entertainment area (Madison Avenue and 62rd) the Helmsley is a real find. A combination of condos and hotel, the service is great, the staff friendly and the room large and well equipped. There is a full size kitchen, if you plan to stay for long periods. Room was a junior suite with king bed, plenty of closet space, flat screen tv and dvd player. Room looked newly decorated and very clean. Bathroom was small, with only a shower...which was the only negative. The valet parking was helpful. There is a courtyard where they keep your car if you are taking it in and out. Close to Barney's (next door), Central Park, 5th Avenue and Bloomingdales'. Madison Avenue is a beautiful area, and it is worth walking uptown and taking in the very chic boutiques. A little out of the way if you have meetings on the west side...but in the thick of it if you are shopping and museum going. (Metropolitcan at 81st, Guggenheim and other close by). Also buses and subways are convenient if you don't want to walk or take a cab."
