Recent Hotel Wales Review: "I had always wanted to stay at this hotel ever since friends had stayed here years ago. I was not disappointed. I was in New York for a weekend birthday party that was being held a bit further uptown. My room was lovely, quiet and had ample storage space. My only complaint was that I could not control the heat. The room was quite warm and I ended up opening the window in the bedroom and the window in the bathroom to let in some cold air. I checked out the roof terrace and it looked inviting, but I did not use it because I was there in January and the terrace was filled with snow. The mezzanine where breakfast is served is a lovely, large room with great views of the surrounding neighborhood. And what a neighborhood it is: one block off of Central Park, near numerous museums and surrounded by great small shops and restaurants. i will stay here again if the occasion arises."

| Overview |
|
Hotel Wales sits right on Madison Avenue, surrounded by the homes and buildings of the Upper East Side's prestigious Carnegie Hill neighborhood. Central Park is just steps away, but that's not the hotel's only famous neighbor. Just in front of the park, Museum Mile runs along Fifth Avenue, putting some of Manhattan's best museums within reach: The Jewish Museum is just around the corner, while the Guggenheim Museum and The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, housed in the Andrew Carnegie mansion that gives the neighborhood its name, are both within a 5-minute walk. Carnegie Hill is full of rewards for inquisitive pedestrians, with boutiques and restaurants filling each vibrant block. Two restaurants on the ground floor of Hotel Wales are popular with visitors and locals alike. Sarabeth's, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, features a varied menu of American comfort-food classics, also available via room service. Paola's celebrates traditional Italian dishes with creative flair--and the ravioli is not to be missed. Stop for a pick-me-up at The Juicy Naam, where you can snack healthily from a menu of smoothies and raw and vegan dishes. Take in the scenery from the rooftop terrace, where potted flowers frame tables and chairs shaded by wide umbrellas. On the second floor, the Pied Piper Room re-creates a swank Victorian lounge, complete with brocade chairs and plush couches on hardwood floors with Oriental rugs. Meeting space is available for a surcharge. In addition to a small onsite fitness center, NAAM yoga classes are held weekly in the hotel's Carnegie Lounge. Hotel Rooms, designed in soothing natural tones, offer beds made with Belgian-cotton linens and down duvets. Guests are welcomed with complimentary Fiji bottled water. A flat-screen TV comes with premium cable channels and a DVD player, and a DVD and CD library is available at the front desk. An iHome clock radio also sits bedside, so you can relax with your own music. Check email with wireless Internet access, available throughout the hotel for a surcharge. Bathrooms have Frette-brand bathrobes and Gilchrist & Soames bath amenities. Staying in a suite? A bouquet of fresh flowers will brighten your stay.

| A short guide to Central Park |
|
Buildings crane above one another to claim views of Central Park, a piece of real estate valued at more than $528 billion. Surprises abound in its 843 acres. The grounds include a castle, a zoo, several lakes, and an Egyptian obelisk. A city that never sleeps needs its quiet time, too: Central Park has six designated “quiet zones,” including Strawberry Fields, the monument to John Lennon.
