Recent Howard Johnson Newark Review: "I booked this hotel several months in advance. It was clean, convenient, and excellent for access to the city. A bus shuttle runs to the airport tram every half hour. My room was clean, well lit, the bed was comfortable, plenty of pillows. I was more than pleased with the amenities. The bathroom was very clean, well stocked. There was a phone, tv, iron, refrigerator, microwave. A washer and dryer were accesible. A small store had film and cameras, a small restaurant was helpful for snacks and meals. The staff was helpful in locating areas around the location. I had a friend join me there, and we had a great time together using this as our central location. The price was excellent for the room and its amenities. A workout room was just down the hall, well equipped. Everything worked. The room had a couch, desk, tv, drawers, extra pillows and blankets. It was very nice and we enjoyed it a lot. I would recommend it. The cleaning staff was always busy cleaning something all the while I was there. They did a good job too."

the hotel was conveniently located close to airport, but the noise was too much. It is good for only 1 night if you have to travel the next day, there is nothing around in the neighbour hood. Difficult to find or to exit from highway. The restaurant very small, nowhere to eat or shop close by

The half-hourly 24-hour shuttle was reliable en quick, as was the shuttle to New York. Staff was helpful and efficient. The restaurant had very good food - more vegetarian options would be cool though. Rooms were clean and quiet. It was not very quiet - of course planes were landing and taking off - but ear plugs remedied this. I paid a discount so it was cheap for me to stay there. If you want something affordable with easy access to New York or surroundings, I would recommend this.

Nothing special. Even though this hotel is close to Newark Airport, it's very isolated in the desolate wasteland of parking lots and highways that surround the airport. Nothing nearby in walking distance. Vans to and from the airport were crowded and only go every half hour, which is not enough during peak times and probably too much during non-peak. Room was basic, but fine.

This should be for someone looking for a night sleep and a shower. Do not expect anything else. Take the shuttle because it is very hard to get to the hotel in your own rental car. THey charge you 15 dollars a day for parking.

Parking is expensive and not included - $15.00 a night. The room was ok but the restaurant didn't always have the items on its menu. Hard to get to from different routes. Airplanes taking off and landing into late at night. Cheap getting to NYC via shuttle to airport, bus to Newark Penn Station and light rail to NYC Penn Station.

I stayed in Howard Johnson with a friend for two nights and it was everything I expected out of a hotel. Even though it was close to the airport, it wasn't very loud or annoying. The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff were nice. The price was also right. It was $15 a day for parking, but for the price of the hotel, that's not a bad deal. Also there's a free shuttle to the airport -- NJ transit train from the airport to NYC is about $15 a piece, so be prepared for this if you're planning on going to the city. But overall, this was a good experience and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in Newark with easy access to the airport.

The hotel itself was fine and close to the airport, but the shuttle bus was too small given its popularity and some customers had to wait almost an hour to get there from the airport.

We stayed 2 days. When we can back 11 pm night second day we found the room was not been cleaned. When I talk to the front desk he was not helping at all. He got big attitude. We asked wakeup call in the morning but we didn't get it either. We almost missed the flight back.
