Recent Ink48 Kimpton Review: "And as a former New Yorker, you know that's a hard-won compliment.
My boyfriend and I checked into Ink48 on a Friday afternoon for a last-minute weekend trip so we could visit friends. I'm a seasoned traveller who has stayed in other higher-end New York hotels like the Thompson and Empire Hotel, and overall my experience at Ink48 was the best. The rooms were spotless, stylishly decorated and large for a city hotel (high ceilings can make all the difference!). We booked a King Deluxe, but got the chance to upgrade to the Cityview Studio King, which was a treat. The added perks were the deep soaking tub and a little more room, but both had firm, comfy beds with soft linens, wonderful showers and an overall feeling of space. I also can't say enough good things about the staff, who were very friendly and accommodating.
Another perk at Ink is the rooftop bar with beautiful views of the Hudson and skyline, and seating inside and out. We spent an evening there watching the sun set, and brought a friend back for after-dinner drinks on Saturday night. The price for cocktails is steep (as it is on any rooftop in Manhattan), but I liked the vibe better than at Gansevoort or the Dream Hotel. It didn't feel touristy or uber-clubby, and was a mix of locals and hotel guests (early Fri evening) and a fashionable young crowd (Sat night). Maybe the coolish April weather kept the crowds at bay, but it also wasn't overrun.
In terms of cons: the only thing we can say negatively is that sometimes we were automatically charged 20 percent service for drinks in the bar or room service, and one time not. It's important to look at your bill or inquire so you don't grossly overtip or leave nothing. We were fine with the automatic 20 percent, because the service was excellent and it's what we would have left regardless. But it's just something to watch out for.
Other people may note the location as a con, but I think it's one of the pros. No, the hotel isn't smack in the middle of a prime l"

Some of NYC’s best-known landmarks are north of 14th and south of 59th—or Midtown Manhattan. Here, couples kiss atop the Empire State Building. Grand Central Station’s opal-faced clock is a famed meeting spot. While fortunes are made on Wall Street, fortunes are spent at Fifth Avenue’s shops. Other highlights include Madison Square Garden, the United Nations, and the Garment and Diamond districts.
