LaGuardia Airport (LGA) is an airport located in Queens County, NY. As the smallest of New York City's three primary airports, it's also the closest to Manhattan. Just twelve miles from Mid-town, it's an easy 20-minute cab ride. The closest neighborhoods surrounding the airport are Astoria, Jackson Heights and East Elmhurst. If you venture into the nearby neighborhoods you can find upscale, local hotels near LaGuardia airport, or you can aim to stay closer to the airport and find corporate hotel chains. Regardless of your choice, there are many hotels that give premium guest service in fine rooms. Just remember, although this airport is New York’s smallest, you will still need to plan plenty of time for flying out and account for delays when arriving. LaGuardia is known for its tight security—a blessing for safety, but a curse for time spent before departure. The closest hotels near La Guardia are the Fairfield Inn, only three-tenths of a mile from the terminals; the Comfort Inn, less than a mile away; and the Clarion Hotel, under a mile and a half from the airport. If you are willing to travel a little further (only several miles), you can stay at a local hostel called Cazzamia. If your business in New York requires you to be at or near the airport and you do not have the time to make it out into the city, the Fairfield is an exceptional choice. Though a two-star hotel, the service goes above and beyond expectations. From check-in to check-out you will have extraordinary service, and when guests run into problems, their hotel staff is known to take extra measures to resolve problems. The Comfort Inn offers your basic hotel amenities, free of glamour and full of comfort. To contrast the Comfort Inn, the Clarion brings three-star service to LaGuardia’s backyard. Customer-oriented service is a first priority and Clarion rooms are packed with what you need to do business or relax from a long day of work right from your room. Both hotels are rated well, and for being as close to the airport as they are, they are quiet and peaceful. If you want a more local experience, Cazzamia is a wonderful place to stay for a few nights. It is a small hotel that brings new meaning to personal guest service. In fact, this location is a hostel, and the rooms are more like an apartment than a hotel. Just pay the bare minimum (lower than any hotel in the city) and you get a real, quiet, homey environment. Complete with a kitchen and professionally-cleaned living space, this may be the most unique place you ever stay on a US vacation. |
