Recent Mark Review: "One of the best hotels i have stayed in. Yes its pricey but worth it if its for a special occasion ( honeymoon, anniversery). It's in a great location, not close to the noise and congestion of NYC. Its in uptown, minutes away from Central park. The gym facilaties are great. As this hotel was recently refurbished it is all new and modern. Everything is designer, you feel like a king (or queen) This hotel deserves its five star rating. Staff where very friendly and offered a speedy service. They had a promotion going on at the time if booked directly on their website, but as i booked from hotels.com they offered me an upgrade to a one bedroom 'apartment'. It was huge. Only down side is breakfast is not included but not a big deal as there is many places to eat minutes walk away."

Built in 1927, The Mark was completely renovated in November 2009. The hotel's renovation was led by Jacques Grange, the famed French interior designer whose clientele list includes Yves Saint Laurent, Princess Caroline of Monaco, and Ronald S. Lauder. The Mark is a really fine, understated, quiet, comfortable hotel. Everything is perfect. Great location in upper East side (off Madison Ave) for museums, restaurants, walking. We keep going back to the Mark.

If you're looking for a great location - this is the spot. Right on Central Park East and between Madison Avenue and 5th Avenue - high-end shopping is awesome. Only a couple of blocks from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a quick taxi ride to the Theatre District - the location is second-to-none. The only downfall we had was with the on-site dining. Our experience left a bad taste in our mouth (pun intended). Service was slow and the food sub-standard, but of course the prices were astronomical ($21.00 for a cheeseburger and a small bowl of fries, $8.00 for a small lemonade). But, we were a party of six, and the waitress "conteniently" failed to tell us that there is an automatic gratuity of 20% on parties of six or more. My advice - eat elsewhere. The cost of the hotel was very high, but the overall experience was great.
