Recent Park Central Review: "This is an exceptional hotel which has undergone recent upscale renovations. Located 6 blks N of Times Sq; 2 blks S of Central Park, and across the street from Carnegie Hall. Subway stop on the corner and bus stop outside entrance. Perfect location. Our suite was impeccably furnished, clean, and loaded (2 coffee makers & 2 flat screen tv's!)We arrived very late on a delayed flight and had a room reservation. The clerk, on his own, upgraded us to a sumptuous suite. We were in heaven. The QS bed was very comfortable. Everyone was super friendly. We used their pub late one night and enjoyed excellent service in a warm, inviting atmosphere. I highly, highly recommend if this is the usual. Please note that we own a timeshare at the super-exclusive attached Manhattan Club and went there the next day. We were wondering why after this visitr! And the Hotel.com price made it a tremendous bargain. There has been tremendous improvement at the Park Central since we have been using our timeshare over the last 10 years. Take advantage of it."

The only drawback in this hotel was the moldy smell in the bathroom. Otherwise, the room was great; comfortable bed, temperature (if A/C is left on max), everything worked, and best of all, the location was perfect - right next to the metro, close to the tour buses, and close enough to the non-tourist deli's and restaurants.

I have stayed at this hotel before and had better experiences, so maybe they are under new management. At check in I asked if they had a coffee pot in the room and was told they do nothing extra that might cost money. This unfortunately turned out to be more than true. The room was comfortable and mostly clean, but the hair drier looked like it was left over from 1970 and barely worked. They did provide shampoo and conditioner, but NOTHING else. The bottles had little more than one application each and were not replaced on the 2nd night. I had a dvd pouch of movies that I left on the desk and it was not there when I packed up. I called security and no one seemed interested in questioning the housekeeper who cleaned the room. The hotel even charges a fee to hold your bags. The restaurant was the best part of the hotel. Their service was great and the food was very good. I will go back to the restaurant, but will not stay at this hotel again. I spend several nights every month in NYC and will choose to stay elsewhere from now on.

Sadly, this hotel was amazing in the lobby but not so much the same for the hotel room. My AC unit was out and it was incredibly Hot. When I called to have someone fix it, they sent a mechanic and it fixed it by spraying WD40 on something...so the room smelled for the next hour and when that hour was over the AC unit no longer worked. At this point it was midnight and I was trying to sleep so I didn't call again, instead I slept in misery. When I woke up the next morning I wanted someone to fix the AC unit and wanted something for my troubles...but the front desk said that since I pre paid they could do nothing for me. They also charged me $15 for a cup of coffee; which, even at NYC prices, I found to be RIDICULOUS. The side elevators never came to the 9th floor, even when I pressed the button while on the 9th floor...so I had to walk around to the main elevator. When I asked to speak to a manager, they said "We'll have one call you back"...No call... Just overall POOR customer service and since I had prepaid they couldn't care less about my experience and that's sad to me. Room was great, lobby was great...just the service was the main issue.

When I made the reservation online, the room I reserved was for two double beds. When I arrived, the only room available was a king bed. They did offer free breakfast as an accommodation.

I expected that valet parking would be the best option given the location of the hotel and the fact that it only costs about $40. The hotel asks for 30 minutes advance to get your car, but then warns that after 10 minutes, your vehicle will be returned to the lot. I handed my ticket to the valet and he told me it would be 15 minutes. I double-checked because that sounded too good to be true. After waiting 45 minutes on the curb for my car, I finally asked the valet what was going on. He told me the car had sat out on the side of the road for 20 minutes and I hadn't been there to pick it up, so he sent it back. After about 5 minutes of getting the run-around, we finally established that they had brought the wrong car around and sent someone to get the correct one. This could be just a one time problem, but it was really frustrating when you're trying to keep to a schedule. When I spoke to a few other people waiting for their cars, they told me that the valets had been rude to them, too, and I should go to the front desk for good service. I'm from New Jersey, and the valets were rude even given some leeway for being in the City. In the end, if you stay here and use the valet service, deal only with the front desk.

Our party of five arrived in pouring rain four hours before check-in time, wet and cold. Observing our condition the staff made one room available early so we could change. All interactions with staff have been positive. The hotel is close to Central Park and subway, sight-seeing tours stop a block away, many must-see sights are in walking distance. We highly recommend the Park Central New York Hotel.

We have enjoyed three NYC vacations at Park Central Hotel, and have been satisfied with all features and services associated with the hotel. Park Central's proximity to major sights, great shopping opportunities, fine dining, theater and tour access is excellent. During each stay, we found Park Central to be clean, comfortable, and safe with a staff that is courteous and responsive. We think of Park Central as our NYC home away from home.
