Overview
Housed in a restored 1906 building set between Manhattan's Gramercy Park and Murray Hill neighborhoods, the Park South Hotel is a handsome boutique property providing access to some of New York's most iconic sights. About a 10-minute walk from the hotel, the majestic Empire State Building rises 102 stories above the city. A block from the Art Deco skyscraper, you can shop at the flagship Macy's and other Herald Square stores.

Walk 5 minutes west of the hotel to Madison Square Park, an urban oasis that hosts summer concerts and other special events. Stroll south through the park to the much-photographed Flatiron Building. Built in 1902, the triangle-shaped skyscraper was groundbreaking for its time. If you're craving more of the Big Apple's historic architecture, the Beaux-Arts Grand Central Terminal is about 1 mile north of the Park South Hotel.

In the hotel restaurant, The Black Duck, the contemporary American menu specializes in seafood dishes (and be sure to save room for the crème brûlée). Live jazz featured on weekend evenings.

The Park South Hotel offers around-the-clock amenities for visitors to the City That Never Sleeps: a complimentary fitness center and business center are both available 24 hours. Wireless Internet access is complimentary throughout the hotel, so you'll never miss an important email. When it's time to call it a day (or night), sink into a pillowtop bed and unwind with a movie on the flat-panel TV. For a surcharge, the hotel provides valet parking and garage parking.

A short guide to Chelsea - East and West Villages

Washington Square, surrounded by NYU, divides the Villages. On one side, Greenwich and West villages lure writers and artists with its bohemian ethos, best experienced at a coffeehouse or jazz bar. The other side—the ethnically mixed East Village—is known for live music. For its string of nightclubs, Chelsea’s West 27th Street is known as Club Row. Chelsea is also the city’s main gay neighborhood.

Recreation

A 24-hour fitness center provides cardio and strength-training equipment.

Dining at Park South Hotel

The Black Duck Restaurant - Named after a rum-running boat that was legendary during Prohibition, this romantic restaurant is housed in an 18th-century brownstone next to the hotel. Elegant decor includes an alabaster bar, hardwood floors, and a fireplace. The contemporary American menu focuses on seafood specialties such as Sesame-Crusted Wasabi Tuna and Jumbo Lump Crab and Rock Shrimp Cake. Live jazz is featured on Friday and Saturday evenings, and sidewalk dining is available in warm weather.
