Recent Plaza Review: "From the time I got out of the car, until the time I was heading back to the airport, I felt as if I was the owner of the Plaza hotel or like I was some sort of visiting dignitary. The staff could not have been more accommodating or welcoming to me and my girlfriend and the room... Well, let's just say that I have stayed in many hotel rooms over the years, many of them suites in 5 star hotels, and never, ever, have I experienced anything like this one. We were in the penthouse, which was a 2 story penthouse with a terrace that overlooked the city. The room was impeccable, but what made it better was that the decor was that of a palace (beautiful portraits, 24 karat plated bathroom fixtures, velvet covered furniture, etc.), but also had a technology level that would rival or exceed the most advanced hotels (I-Pad to control the lighting and temperature, heated floors in the bathroom, flat panel tvs and an advanced telephone system to incorporate your own personal touch). I have been staying in New York for the last 14 years and usually at the best hotels, but I had never stayed at the Plaza. However, after the experience that we had, I would find it difficult to ever go to New York again without the Plaza being in my plans! If you can afford the extra dollars it might cost you, it will be WELL WORTH IT!!!!!!"

Among Manhattan luxury hotels, The Plaza is one of Midtown's true grande dames--a national historic landmark with a standout location on the southeast edge of Central Park. From the doorstep of this 5-star property, you can hop into a horse-drawn carriage for a romantic ride around the park. Or if you prefer, shop 'til you drop at adjacent Bergdorf Goodman, explore Fifth Avenue's flagship shops less than 1 block away, or check out the latest art exhibit at MoMA, within a 10-minute walk of The Plaza. Amenities at this celebrated Beaux Arts hotel include wine therapy at Caudalíe Vinthérapie Spa, and onsite boutiques including Emanuel Ungaro and Anna Hu. Before heading off for a night on the town, be sure to consult with The Plaza's concierge staff--all members of the prestigious Les Clefs d’Or, they are more than happy to assist you with a visit to The Met, the search for the perfect bagel, or an evening kicking it up with the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. And you can drop off the kids for the evening with The Plaza's childcare services (surcharge). | A short guide to Central Park |
|
Buildings crane above one another to claim views of Central Park, a piece of real estate valued at more than $528 billion. Surprises abound in its 843 acres. The grounds include a castle, a zoo, several lakes, and an Egyptian obelisk. A city that never sleeps needs its quiet time, too: Central Park has six designated “quiet zones,” including Strawberry Fields, the monument to John Lennon.
