Recent Pod New York Review: "For my 30th birthday, I flew from Seattle with my brother in law to see a game at Yankee Stadium before they tear it down at the end of the season.
We took the air train to subway and got off at 50th. Unfortunately it wasn't the right stop. The stop is on the west side so we had about 9 blocks to walk to the hotel. In our walk we passed and Applebees, TGIF, a steak house, Radio City Music Hall, a Rite Aid and several other stores.
The hotel is less than a full block away from the local fire and police precinct, but at no time in our stay was I remotely apprehensive about walking the streets, day or night.
The front desk guy was friendly and let us check in a couple hours early. The concierge lady gave us printed out subway directions to Yankee stadium, which took us less than a half an hour to travel to.
We had a bunk bed room on the 10th floor (14 floors total) with a window that opens to the city. As expected the view consisted of clouds and lots of sky scrapers.
The beds were surprisingly very high quality mattresses and the TV for each bed worked great.
There is an indicator in your room which bathrooms were available so you don't have to go to each bathroom on the floor to see which one is open (there were 4 on our floor).
The bathrooms were very clean, especially for a community environment. I took 3 showers in 2 days and never did the bathrooms look like they had other users. The showers had an overhead shower head, rain style, with plenty of water pressure and hot water. There are shampoo and body lotion dispensers in all the showers.
You can even go out on the roof where there is plenty of furniture to relax and have a drink.
So for a great, clean, safe room in an area where most rooms start at $300 and up, this is a perfect choice. We just needed a place to stay and got surprised on how clean and comfortable everything was."

| A short guide to Midtown |
|
Some of NYC’s best-known landmarks are north of 14th and south of 59th—or Midtown Manhattan. Here, couples kiss atop the Empire State Building. Grand Central Station’s opal-faced clock is a famed meeting spot. While fortunes are made on Wall Street, fortunes are spent at Fifth Avenue’s shops. Other highlights include Madison Square Garden, the United Nations, and the Garment and Diamond districts.

| Recreation |

Central Park, 12 blocks (about a mile) from the hotel, encompasses 843 acres of meadows, woods, cliffs, ravines, gardens, paths, and lakes in an emerald setting. Popular walking and running routes include Central Park Drive (closed to traffic during scheduled hours) and the path around the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. The park abounds with playgrounds and wide, open spaces for romping. The Loeb Boathouse, on a picturesque lake, has rowboat and bicycle rentals. The Wollman Rink offers ice-skating in the winter, the Victorian Gardens amusement park during warmer months, and splendid views of the park and city year-round.
