| We just had a one night stay at the Portland. The only way we could turn a day trip into a weekend was to find someplace in the Portland's price range. The hotel is being renovated, so the first floor is pretty much closed off except for corridors, but there was no noise or dust. The room, as noted in other reviews, was very small, but was exactly what we needed -- two twin beds. The rugs were old, but all was clean and the beds were fine. The bathroom was fine as well -- almost as big as the room! This was not a room to spend a lot of time in, because it was small, but it was completely adequate, clean and we felt fine there. The room was on an interior lightwell, and very quiet. A great night's rest, convenient and a very friendly staff. We will definitely be back if the prices stay reasonable after the renovation. |

| Clean and comfortable, great location subway 30 seconds away! Room was very small but the bathroom was nice and fit our needs exactly. |

| Very small rooms with the hotel under construction but happy considering the price and the location. Literally two blocks from Times Square. Hotel staff was as friendly and helpful as any place I have ever stayed. |

| The best of the Portland was the location. Only minutes away from Times Square, multiple on Broadway plays, the subway, etc. etc.
Kind of old and run down, the room small, but very clean, and the attentiveness of the staff was top notch.
It is an ideal place to sleep if you want to stay close to all the action! |

| I was not expecting a two star hotel to be like the Hilton, so was not disturbed when I discovered the hotel under renovation. In fact, I was pleased. This hotel provides clean rooms with comfortable beds ( I stayed twice in one week). The rooms are small, but why would one spend much time in a room when Times Square is only 1/2 block away? I also felt safe. The workers were very accommodating. A great cheap restaurant across the steet made for breakfast. Will stay there again if I find myself in NY again. |

| Great location!!! If your looking for a super nice hotel then this isnt the place for you. The rooms are small and old but thats not why I stayed there. The rooms where half the price of the major surrounding hotels and the location you couldnt beat. The subway was right next to the hotel and it made it convenient to go anywhere. We never had to take a cab. You are on 47th street between 6th and 7th avenue. 7th avenue is Times square so you are a half a block from there and 5th avenue is all the major shopping so you a 5 minute walk from there. I would stay there again for the convenience it gave me. I didnt go to NY to stay in the hotel room, I went to experience NY and this hotel was perfect. |

| We had read all the reviews and thought it wont be so good. But the hotel was OK. The location rules, the building is super interesting and the people nice.
The only thing is that the room wasnt 100 per cent cleaned, but it was not dirty at all. You can sleep comfortably and dont notice that. |

| The bed was very comfortable and the bed lines of v good quality with a superb comforter. However, the room was tiny and if you have still knees you won't be able to leap over the bed. Drawback that the shower was down the hall but not a big deal as there was a vanity in the room. Free wi-fi was a plus. This is not a hotel for anyone with a snobby attitude - it suited me because of price and location. |

| No surprises, I wanted an inexpensive hotel ant that's exactly what I got. The staff was great, the rooms were clean and comfortable. No frills though |

| Portland Square was just right for my needs--a fantastic location at a reasonable price. I knew going in that my room would be tiny, and it was. I knew that I would share a bathroom, and I did. My only complaint: the wireless was not reliable. |
