Recent Salisbury Review: "We stayed on the 17th floor, the top floor. Our room had a 12-foot ceiling and was reasonably large. The vending machine is on the third floor, no biggie. The room had a bed and breakfast feel to it. It was clean, spacious and comfortable. I went with a friend and our two kids for a two-night stay and we all were very pleased. Although it's not the most romantic room ever, I would still go with my husband on an anniversary and be pleased. It had a nice, big flat-screen TV and huge, thick curtains to keep the light out. The bathroom was a decent size and the beds could have been a little softer, but after walking all day I had no trouble sleeping. The location is probably the best part. It's 2-3 blocks from Central Park. It's about seven blocks from Rockefeller Center. The subway is close and will take you anywhere in the city. Parking for hotel guests is on 56th street in the QUIKPARK and is $28/day for regular size cars. My Tahoe cost me $38 per 24-hour period. Sound expensiver Down the street they wanted to charge $60/night. The nearest gas station to the place is at 11th and 51st. The staff was extremely nice. Two doors down is Angelo's Italian Restaurant. I had the best chicken-fettucini alfredo I've ever had in my life. Be alert though that they charge $2.75/soft drink and refills are the same price. Together, my friend and I (and our kids) spent $16.50 on pop. Anyway, when I go back to NYC, regardless of who I'm with, I will check in to the Salisbury."

| A short guide to Central Park |
|
Buildings crane above one another to claim views of Central Park, a piece of real estate valued at more than $528 billion. Surprises abound in its 843 acres. The grounds include a castle, a zoo, several lakes, and an Egyptian obelisk. A city that never sleeps needs its quiet time, too: Central Park has six designated “quiet zones,” including Strawberry Fields, the monument to John Lennon.

| We enjoyed our stay at the Salsbury. It was close to Central Park, Carnegie Hall and an easy walk to Times Square. We had a King suite, and the room was very spacious and comfortable. Continental breakfast offered was convenient, and food was adequate. All in all, a good choice if you want a modest hotel in a good location |

| The hotel is very spacious and filled with charm. It is old but well tended and very comfortable. We stayed during a New York heat wave and the window air conditioning units (one in the bedroom and one in the living room area) functioned well; albeit a little loudly. The hotel's breakfast was rather average quality but convenient nonetheless, especially until you can discover some of the little coffee and breakfast cafes in the area - and there are several. The hotel is close to subway stations and a pleasant walk to the Central Park. |

| After arriving at the hotel after a long flight, our check-in was quick and efficient and we were fortunate to be upgraded to a room with a king size bed, and a lounge. There was a safe for use in the room, and plenty of cupboard space. The hotel is old but the rooms large and comfortable, with a microwave, coffee station and small sink. We did have a small problem with the microwave when we arrived, but after reporting it to the Front Desk, our request was attended to promptly by the Maintenance staff, and another microwave brought in in its place. A good continental breakfast was offered by the hotel at a very reasonable cost each day. The location of the hotel is excellent, restaurants abound in the area with a lovely Italian restaurant just two doors down from the Hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a good economy hotel at an excellent location. |

| It's an older building, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. Location is great -- easy walk to Times Square yet far enough away to avoid crowds and noise of Times Square. Breakfast room is nice -- a good deal for $6. Nothing fancy -- no bar or restaurant -- but convenient, functional, subway lines at each end of the block and two short blocks to Central Park. The only negative is elevators can be slow at times, but that's about the only negative. |

| Have stayed at the Salisbury 3 times - each time w/different members of my family. Great space for families, good location for walking to sights, subway 1 short block away. Comfortable beds. Paint in the rooms was updated from last time, as were the new flat screen tvs. Bathrooms could use some attention; toilet seat kind of dangerous!! An old property, but great value. Miss the doorman who used to get taxis for the patrons, but still friendly and attentive service. |

| Within walking distance of most major attractions. What is not within walking distance is easliy access via Subway with 2 stations within 1/2 blcok each way and a 3rd station 1 1/2 blocks away. Subway was a bit confusing the first day but once we figured out which side of the street to go down on it was a peice of cake. |

| An excellent choice for a family of 5 visiting New York. The problem with most hotels is you can not have over 4 per room, meaning with 3 kids + parents you're often looking at 2 rooms or a suite at significant extra cost. The Salisbury has reasonable suites, 2 rooms and a living room with a hide-a-bed couch perfect for a teenager. Both rooms have their own flat screen TV.
We were more than satisfied with this hotel, the location 2 blocks from Central Park is ideal and there's even a well known coffee boutique across the street for the morning expresso. The rooms are large but are not the typical new large-chain hotel feel, as the building is an old apartment complex and that's what you get ; the NY apartment feel, with window air conditioners (occasionnally loud) and doorbells at your door (we didn't test to see if they still worked).
Probably not my choice for business travel or travelling solo, but definately a hit for familes with 3 or more kids. We would clearly stay here again. |

| The room we stayed in was a very nice size for a family of four. We had a comfortable bed and a very nice size sofa bed. The location of the hotel was in walking distance of all the main attractions in NYC. When I'm in NYC next year I will stay in this hotel again. |

| I was pleased with the location, and Front Desk and Bell Staff at this hotel.. I have stayed in many hotels in New York, but NONE of them compared with the large size of the 2-Bed Suite. The only drawback is the single elevator, but wait times for service was minimal.
I also found the Continental Breakfast advertised as a special of $6 per person was a joke for what was available...I chose instead to walk 5 yards down the street to a small Cafe that had excellent breakfast specials for less. The hotel should offer the address to their customers for good faith and as an alternative...or at least provide for room service with the cafe for a nominal fee that benefits the Salisbury Hotel.
All else was excellent, and I would highly recomment this hotel due to it's location, and oversized rooms. |
