Recent Solita Soho Ascend Collection Review: "I highly recommend this hotel, based both on the hotel itself (room, building, service), and its location. On a previous visit we stayed at a much larger hotel uptown because it seemed more in the middle of the action. I think many of the hotels there are almost too in the middle of the action. SoLita was in a great shopping and eating area, in walking distance of NYU and Washington Square, and of the subway. It was a nice easy ride to anywhere we could think to go - uptown near Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum, and downtown to see the WTC site, Battery Park, city hall, the statue of liberty, and Ellis Island. I do want to mention that the rooms were small, but this is not a surprise in New York from my experience. It was comfortable, and exactly what we were looking for!"

| Overview |
|
The Solita Soho, an Ascend Collection Hotel sits right at the junction of three lively Lower Manhattan neighborhoods: on Grand Street, where vibrant SoHo gives way to Chinatown, just steps from Little Italy. And the Solita Soho's affordable price means you'll have a little extra cash for the dozens of restaurants, bars, galleries, and must-shop boutiques all within a few blocks. (Not a boutique shopper? Canal Street, with its street vendors and open storefronts, is less than a 5-minute walk away.) Spend some time checking out SoHo's historic cast-iron buildings--it doesn't cost a thing. For more perspective on the area's rich past, visit the Museum of Chinese in America, just around the corner. Exploring these neighborhoods can take some time, but when you're ready to expand your horizons, head about 3 minutes south to the Canal Street subway station and catch a train: You can be in Midtown in about 15 minutes. After a day on your feet, return to your comfortable, air-conditioned Hotel Rooms to take a load off. Relax with cable channels on the plasma TV. Complimentary wired (high-speed) Internet access helps you stay in touch, and local calls are also free. More thoughtful touches: bathrobes, complimentary bottled water, and weekday newspapers. Staying a few extra days? Laundry facilities are an added convenience--and the staff can assist with dry cleaning services, too.

| A short guide to SoHo - Tribeca - Lower East Side |
|
Starving artists revitalized SoHo and TriBeCa, two former industrial centers. Although the factories are long gone, their cast iron and mason buildings remain, now housing art galleries, high-end retail, and some of the city’s best restaurants. Robert De Niro’s TriBeCa Film Festival helped reestablish the area as a cultural zone after the 9/11 attacks. Nearby, Chinatown expands into Little Italy.
