Recent St Giles Tuscany Review: "Overall value quite good and hotel is recommended: comfortably large standard room--especially for NYC; good location in mid-town; very reasonably priced (again, by NYC standards). Have also stayed at adjacent sister hotel, The Court; very comparable, but slightly prefer The Tuscany. Minor complaints: small, unattended business center--although upon request they sent someone who was very courteous and helpful; no clean shower floor mat after removing dirty one; no trash can in sleeping/desk room (a small one in bathroom only); shower only--so ask for room with tub, which I think they do have, if that matters to you; AC plug-ins took some effort and furniture shifting; ice only available via room service (but grab a cup of ice for 75 cents at the convenience store across the street; and buy your scotch at the adjacent liquor store and save a bundle over hotel prices.) But those were minor irritants. Room and common areas clean, well kept. Comfortable bed, linens, pillows, towels; furniture in good shape. High floor request (strongly recommended) was accommodated--on 11th floor,
Rm 1101 facing 39th St., very quiet, cool view of the Chrysler building and other high-rises. Older building--thick walls a plus. Staff always courteous. Neighborhood very safe (betw Lexington/Park); convenience store, drug store, diner and restaurants just around the corner; easy walk to Grand Central, Bryant Park, etc. Small bar but no restaurant off lobby. (Restaurant in The Court next door under renovation as of Jan. 2011--but plenty of restaurant options in the neighborhood.) Tuscany on the modern, trendy side; not bad, despite my usual personal preference for more classic and sedate hotels. This will likely remain my first choice hotel in NYC, and have stayed at a lot of them. Some perhaps fancier, but none with the price/performance value return of The Tuscany."

| A short guide to Midtown |
|
Some of NYC’s best-known landmarks are north of 14th and south of 59th—or Midtown Manhattan. Here, couples kiss atop the Empire State Building. Grand Central Station’s opal-faced clock is a famed meeting spot. While fortunes are made on Wall Street, fortunes are spent at Fifth Avenue’s shops. Other highlights include Madison Square Garden, the United Nations, and the Garment and Diamond districts.

| Overview |
|
Part of the small, British-based St. Giles Hotel Group, St. Giles - The Tuscany combines a distinct European charm with sophisticated New York style. Add genuinely friendly service and a great location to the mix, and you just might have the ideal boutique hotel for your Midtown Manhattan stay. Step outside and walk 3 blocks to magnificent Grand Central Terminal, where you can admire the star-studded celestial ceiling and, of course, catch the subway to points around town. Buy a loaf of freshly baked bread, a wedge of cheese, and a classic New York black-and-white cookie from the purveyors on the main-level Grand Central Market, then stroll just a few more blocks to Bryant Park and picnic with the locals. Take a spin on the park's French carousel in summer, or on the ice-skating rink in winter. If a Broadway show is on your must-see list, you'll be glad to know that the Theater District and Times Square are less than a mile from St. Giles - The Tuscany. In the City That Never Sleeps, the expert concierge staff is happy to respond to your requests 24 hours a day. Room service, the business center, and the state-of-the-art fitness center are also available anytime, day or night. You can start your day with Continental breakfast (surcharge) and a complimentary New York Times or Wall Street Journal at the onsite Audrey's Café. At night, the café is transformed into a casually chic lounge--perfect for a nightcap. When you're ready to call it a night, return to your spacious Hotel Rooms, decorated in a refined, residential style. Beds are layered with luxury linens and down duvets. Watch a late-night show on the LCD TV, or catch up with friends via wireless Internet access (surcharge in Hotel Rooms, complimentary in the lobby area). Your four-legged companion is welcome here, too: St. Giles - The Tuscany permits pets up to 40 pounds for a surcharge. And you'll sleep easy, since the entire hotel is non-smoking.
