Recent St James Times Square Review: "This was a great hotel! Most importantly, it was BED BUG FREE! The staff was very cool. This is an old hotel so it is small, has no room service, restaurant or bar, gym,pool, spa etc. If that's what you are looking for in a hotel in NYC go someplace else. But there is free wifi and a new plasma TV in the room with enough channels. But since we were  there to sightsee we didn't spend much time in the room or the hotel in the day. Even though there is no food service IN the hotel, there is a killer deli next door and the most Amazing Falafal at Sarah's, which is a truck on the NW corner of 6th/45th (same block as the hotel). And it is 2 blocks away from Restaurant Row and Hell's Kitchen. Finding a place to eat in the neighborhood is not hard. This hotel is a block away from Times Square, 4 blks Rockefeller, 10 blks Empire State Building. Amazing location. My Husband and I stayed in room 205, directly over one of the deli's very close to the street. Being from LA we're not bothered in the least about street noise, but if you are the kind of person who is, let the front desk know and they will move you to a higher floor or to a room further from the street side (if one is available). but if want to cut the noise you'll also be cutting your view to an alley.The informed us of this when we checked in. 10 nights in this hotel and not a single bed bug bite or sighting. We thoroughly checked everyday just in case. Since we didn't find any, we decide NOT to have our room cleaned, because we didn't want them to change our sheets. (A tip from my New Yorker friend). I had read in some other reviews that some of the staff were not very nice. I did witness some issues with people returning to their rooms late night. One was when a guy was coming back to his room late with a girl (most likely picked up from the bar), and the front desk didn't let her go up since his reservation was for 1 (not 2). The fact that this happened made me feel very safe and I agreed with their actions"
