Overview
When Colonel John Jacob Astor IV debuted this Fifth Avenue hotel in 1904, he set a new standard for luxury. More than a century later, Astor's vision continues to delight. Located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 55th Street, the St. Regis New York is one of the jewels of Midtown Manhattan. Famous neighbors include Rockefeller Center, Tiffany & Co., and the glorious St. Patrick's Cathedral, all within 5 blocks; DeBeers occupies the corner of the hotel's first floor. The Museum of Modern Art is 3 blocks away, and Central Park is just 4 blocks north. But the St. Regis itself is a destination, with a landmark lobby and internationally renowned cuisine within the hotel's walls.

And what walls they are--the lobby is framed by marble columns with gilded molding, stretching up to glittering crystal chandeliers and painted panels of blue sky. Just off the lobby is Adour, the French restaurant founded by much-lauded chef Alain Ducasse. The King Cole Bar is adorned with a striking mural by Maxfield Parrish. And room service is available 24 hours a day.

If you'd prefer a menu dedicated to relaxation, visit the Remède Spa by St. Regis. You can sip champagne and nibble truffles before enjoying a customized facial or massage.

During your stay, the hotel's butlers will be at your beck and call 24 hours a day. More than 30 butlers staff the St. Regis, each of whom can say, "How can I help you?" in at least 2 languages. Need help packing or unpacking? Want to greet the morning with drawn drapes and tea and coffee service? The St. Regis's staff of butlers is at your service.

When you first enter your Hotel Rooms or suite, your butler will guide you through a space extravagantly decorated with deeply carved crown moldings, wainscoting and silk wall coverings. A cascading silk drape flows from the 12-foot ceiling to the down duvet-topped bed, layered with Egyptian-cotton linens. The plasma TV comes with premium channels and a DVD player, and wireless Internet access is complimentary. Step into the Italian-marble bathroom, and you'll find amenities from the Remède Spa. Once you're unpacked, your butler can whisk away 2 items for pressing, a complimentary welcome to your stay in Manhattan.

Recreation

The fitness center is graced with the same elaborate crown molding and thoughtful artwork that bedecks the rest of the hotel. Distract yourself with the paintings of palatial lawns and sprawling houses while you work out--or watch your favorite show on the individual TVs that come with the cardio machines. The fitness center also includes strength machines and free weights, and a steam room is adjacent. Want a little guidance? Personal training and yoga and Pilates instruction are available upon request (surcharges apply).

Prefer exercise of a more aquatic nature? A quick chat with the concierge, and you'll have access to the 50-foot indoor pool at the Sheraton Manhattan, 5 blocks away.

A short guide to Midtown

Some of NYC’s best-known landmarks are north of 14th and south of 59th—or Midtown Manhattan. Here, couples kiss atop the Empire State Building. Grand Central Station’s opal-faced clock is a famed meeting spot. While fortunes are made on Wall Street, fortunes are spent at Fifth Avenue’s shops. Other highlights include Madison Square Garden, the United Nations, and the Garment and Diamond districts.

Spa information

Remède has but a handful of spas throughout the world; one of these exclusive locations is right here at The St. Regis New York. You'll be welcomed with champagne and truffles. Treatments are customized to your needs, and the products are straight from Laboratoire Remède. Treat yourself to a St. Regis Refresh Wrap and reveal a more vibrant, relaxed you with the Remède Customized Facial or Massage.

Dining at St Regis East

Adour - Internationally renowned chef Alain Ducasse has created 3 restaurants awarded 3 Michelin stars, the only chef to manage such a feat. Come to Adour and experience Ducasse's take on French cuisine, complemented by an extensive fine-wine list. A la carte and tasting menus are available. Open for dinner, Tuesday - Saturday.

King Cole Bar - A dazzling 1906 mural from famed painter and illustrator Maxfield Parrish gives this cocktail sanctuary its name--and the backdrop of its historic bar. In 1934, a St. Regis bartender created the drink that became the Bloody Mary. Today, the King Cole Bar's menu celebrates the drink's pedigree, offering several varieties of the famous drink made with house-made mixes. The menu also includes small plates and desserts.

Astor Court - When you imagine dining at a 5-star hotel, Astor Court is what you're picturing. Crystal chandeliers illuminate a space with velvet seats and ornately clad floor-to-ceiling windows. Tables are set with Waterford crystal and Limoges china. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner daily, with brunch on Sundays.

In-room dining - Whether you want dinner or dessert--or a cocktail from a full bar menu--you can have it delivered to your room 24 hours a day.
