New York Food Stands

It is easy to drop a hundred dollars on a meal in New York City without even thinking about it. The Big Apple has, arguably, America’s best food, most plentiful restaurants and internationally-touted chefs. New York-style pizza is the largest draw for out-of-towners. Locals seem to float between hot dogs and pretzels, but hot dogs are a big enough topic that they deserve their own attention elsewhere. You can enjoy everything from famous snow cones to ethnic treats like authentic Mexican food from the carts that dot the busy street walks throughout the city.

Jiannetto's Pizza Truck may be the most coveted of the food carts. One man helms the eatery but works as fast as three. He will be so busy from noon to one that you have to have nothing scheduled to make the stop, but during off-peak hours, it is easy enough to get the sauce-laden slices that make their mark. Jianetto’s also serves up amazing meatball subs and stuffed shells. You can always find Jiannetto’s parked on 47th and Park Avenue, almost having become as permanent of an establishment as any brick and mortar location. The only reason for you to go elsewhere is cost (Jianetto’s is cheap, around seven dollars for a meal).

All along the avenues, hungry people can find ninety-nice cent slices, dollar taco plates, dollar pretzels and $2.25 hot dogs from New York food stands. Since the entire industry is overseen by a consumer protection board, no one has to worry about contaminated food, and for a dollar (or barely more) for lunch in a city that easily charges one hundredfold, you cannot find a better deal.
